Meet our founder

After graduating from Georgetown University in 2006, Mehmet worked in agri-inputs marketing at various companies in the US and in Switzerland for 10 years. Mehmet had recognized early on that family farms’ lack of working capital financing was a major pain point in their access to high quality agri-inputs. Family farms couldn’t fertilize their lands properly because they didn’t have cash in season. This jeopardized their yields and their income at harvest. Tarfin was founded in 2017 on the premise that technology and data science could facilitate quick and convenient financing for family farms at scale. Mehmet believes that tech can eliminate a lot of the inefficiencies in the agricultural value chain; he is guiding Tarfin to take a larger role within the input supplier>farmer>food processors chain.”

Increasing the effects of its strong capital structure on agricultural production in this agricultural season, Tarfin has enabled farmers to reach agricultural inputs of over 500 million TL since 2017. Small and medium-sized farmers, who continue their production with confidence with their purchases from Tarfin, contributed to agricultural production of 2.7 billion TL.
